This past week, I was at my cousin’s wedding where one of his friends asked me why I was building this startup. I was taken aback because I had never really been asked this nor have I thought about it myself. It’s not that I didn’t know why I was doing it, but rather it was the most natural next step for me. I didn't have to think much about it because my life revolves around this one question and using a startup as a vehicle to bring the answer I've found to other people was a no brainer for me.
One of my earliest memories was of me in my math class, finishing my assignment earlier than the rest of the class, bringing it up to my teacher, and having her scowl at me and tell me to go back to my desk and wait. From that point on, I retreated into my internal world because there wasn't much else for me to do. While I was in there, I couldn't help but notice the gulf between my imagination and reality, and I asked the question "Is this it?". Is this all there is to life? It was this question that haunted me, and it was the question that I set out to answer.
In my trial and error, what I've found is that meaning is created. What you're doing when you are creating is you're aligning the parts into something that is greater as a whole and didn't exist before. This goes against conventional wisdom because most people believe that life is either meaningless or meaningful. I'm more in the middle in that I think that it's more like reaching the end of a journey where not everyone achieves meaning, but there are people out there that do.
This is important because right now society is structured in such a way that we aren't allowed to create our own meaning. On one side, the nihilists say that everything is meaningless, so they try to stop you from doing anything, and on the other side, they believe that meaning can be found anywhere, and so they think it's okay to tell you where you can or cannot go. As a result, you have these two forces are working together to stop you from creating your own meaning by keeping you in your lane.
The biggest perpetrator of this is the education system. You waste so much of your life doing things that you don't care about and then be expected to stick to that for the rest of your life. It doesn't have to be this way, and I am working on something that needs your feedback. If you would like to beta test send me a dm.
